Applications for graduate programmes and Quota 2

Two weeks ago we reach the deadline for graduate programme applications, while Quota 2 applications are top of mind today

By Marianne Holmer, , 3/17/2023

Dear staff

Two weeks ago, the application deadline for our master's programmes expired. With a few exceptions, it seems that we are holding our ground compared to last year. Some programmes are very popular amongst international applicants, and we can hope that we in the future will admit more of these, as the minister has stated in various contexts.

These days, it is the number of applicants for Quota 2 that has our intention. Here, too, it seems that the number of applicants is more or less at the same level as last year, although slightly fewer choose us as their first priority. However, few of our applicants generally apply in Quota 2, which is why it is difficult for us to predict our enrollment for September - not least because this year we have eased the entry requirements for a number of programmes.

SDU Analytics has created a forecasting tool based on previous years' search patterns, which can help us assess enrollment and thus the faculty's expected finances. Next week, the board will decide on SDU's overall finances and any need to adjust the budgets.

At our faculty, we have worked intensively with the budget for a long time as a result of the drop in admissions in September last year. We have begun a transition to greater financing of expenses via external projects. There will be more information in the coming weeks about SDU's and NAT's finances, so keep an eye on the various platforms where you normally read news.

Fortunately, there is also a lot to look forward to while we wait for clarification about the 1-year master's programmes in the government plan "Prepared for the Future I".

Last Friday, FKF celebrated the appointment of three new professors and next week the Biological Institute can celebrate its 50th anniversary with several hundred participants.

Last week, IMADA received a recruitment grant from NNF for Professor Ricardo Campello, who is researching artificial intelligence in Australia.

It is gratifying that we are getting another talented colleague from the field - and perfect timing with the start of the new bachelor's programme in September.

Congratulations to all of you and remember to celebrate the many – small and large – successes around the entire faculty.
