High numbers across the faculty's programmes
March 1 was the application deadline for master's programmes. Two weeks later, we hit the deadline to apply for a bachelor's programmes via quota 2. Now the numbers give reason for optimism.

For the past month, many of us have had our eyes firmly fixed on first the number of received applications for our Master programmes and then for the Bachelor programmes via quota 2.
Fortunately, it has gone very well and both show positive trends. Although we will only know the final application figures for the Bachelor programme on 5 July – and even if the admission figures will only be officially calculated in October, we can be happy about an increase in the number of applications for almost all of our programmes. The faculty's overall increase of 13-14 % first priority applications is even slightly higher than Science programmes at the other universities (10 %). It is all positive, but there is still a long way to go before the final application deadline and the semester start in September. Therefore, it is important that we do not draw hasty conclusions about the number of applications for our Bachelor programmes
On the other hand, we can already evaluate the application for the Master programmes, as the deadline was 1 March. We have achieved a superb result, and overall we have received 82 % more applications than last year.
A significant factor is the search for the new Data Science programme in Kolding with approx. 230 applicants. It is quite amazing given the short time we had to market the programme. Of the 230 applicants, 60 are from Denmark and the rest from abroad.
At the same time, the search for the Data Science programme in Odense has progressed noticeably compared to 2023. Thus, it appears that the two programmes aren't directly competing with each other.
It is really great that we have succeeded in increasing the search for both Bachelor and Master programmes. I think that the many outreach activities and the increased marketing contribute to increasing the search, in combination with the great effort that is put into teaching and guiding our students, so that they are guaranteed a high-quality education and a good study environment.
Now there is a lot of work involved in getting all the applications processed and notifying the applicants in good time – and then we have to cross our fingers that the international students show up in September.
It would be so nice to have more diversity on our Master'programmes again, and not least larger groups, so that we can offer the students a wide range of courses.
