New organisation at the Department of Physics, Chemistry and Pharmacy will increase employee involvement

More employee groups will now be represented in the department's management group after a new organisation came into effect at the beginning of December

The department's management group is expanding. At the same time, two deputy department heads are being consolidated into one, while section leaders are being added, as is the department's lab manager Charlotte Damsgaard.

This means that the management group, which has so far consisted of the department head, the two deputy department heads, three education leaders and the head of secretariat, will in future consist of the department head, one deputy head of department, three section leaders, three education leaders, the head of secretariat and the lab manager.

So a total of ten people going forward, instead of the previous seven.

- This should mean that there will be better employee representation and better balance in the management group, so that we can increase participation at the department, says head of department Lars Porskjær Christensen.

Personnel and financial responsibilities are being combined

In the new organisation, Jacob Kongsted will in future be the only deputy department head.

This will release Mads Toudal Frandsen from the role of deputy head of department, which will free up time and resources for the many other tasks he is involved in.

In return, Adam Cohen Simonsen, Jan O. Jeppesen and René Holm will be section heads for Physics, Chemistry and Pharmacy respectively.

The division of responsibilities will be such that personnel and financial responsibility will be placed with the head of department, deputy head of department and head of secretariat, while responsibility for daily operations and proximity management in the sections will be placed with the section leaders.

Proximity management of postdocs, including employee development dialogues, will remain with the research leaders, while such and similar for PhD students will be with the PhD committee.

With these changes, the department will resemble the other departments at the faculty more in structure and organisation.

At the same time, the meeting structure will change so that the department's management group has a two-hour meeting every month, where the focus will be on the overall work on the strategy.

Every fortnight there will be coordination meetings with the section heads. The latter may be combined when appropriate.
