Helene, Piotr and Stine attended uniTEST during the weekend
There was much at stake when over 5000 Quota 2 applicants arrived at SDU to attend uniTEST during the weekend. SDU staff had worked for many weeks to make sure everything went according to plan, but the many applicants had also prepared for the day - including Helene, Piotr and Stine.

All Quota 2 applicants must attend the uniTEST in order to assess whether they are suitable university student material. 750 of the candidates had applied to study programmes at Science, and they attended the test on Sunday. Following the test, they had the opportunity to visit Cafe Popcorn at the BMB Square where they could meet students from all of the Science study programmes. Many applicants took advantage of the offer. For instance, the couple Helene and Piotr from Copenhagen, who spent the whole weekend in Odense. And Stine from Faaborg, who had a long day at SDU.
Helene has applied to Medicine and Piotr to Computer Science. Helene attended the test on Saturday, and on Sunday it was Piotr's turn to take the test that he hopes will be his entry ticket to the Computer Science study programme. Computer Science is his first - and only - priority, and he thinks the test went well and that testing Quota 2 applicants is a good idea:
"I didn't manage to answer all the questions, but I think I've answered most of them correctly, although there were some I wasn't sure about. But it's good to be assessed based on a test. I think it's more objective and fair."
Helene and Piotr are planning to move to Odense if they are accepted at SDU:
"We're going to move in together anyway, so we might as well move far away. It's cheaper to live in Odense than in Copenhagen and easier to get into SDU than KU," says Helene.
"Odense is a big enough city that you don't feel like you're living in the countryside," thinks Piotr.
The couple, who are in 3G, praise SDU's planning of the test days:
"It is really well organised, and it's great to have an area for parents. It's also good that you have the chance to meet students and ask questions. We got a whole pile of folders that we'll look at when we get home, but otherwise we've got a pretty good idea of what our study programmes are about," says Piotr.
Stine from Faaborg felt prepared for the uniTEST.
And Stine, who is currently taking a year out and supplementing her high school qualifications with Biology at A level at the Adult Education Centre (VUC) in Faaborg, is very well informed about the study programmes she has applied for. At the top of her wish list is Biochemistry and molecular biology, followed by Chemistry and then Chemical Engineering. She has also prepared for the uniTEST:
"I was really nervous last week, but then I took the sample test on SDU's website, and that helped a lot. I could see that I was able to answer the questions, but also that I probably wouldn't manage to answer all of them," explains Stine, who has been a regular guest at SDU over the past six months:
"I got a food voucher from SDU because I had to be here for the test at 8 a.m., then I had another test at 2 a.m. and another at 6 p.m. for Chemical Engineering. It has been a long day, but a good one. I've met a lot of people that I'd also spoken to when I was at ScienceCamp," says Stine, who has also been Student for a Day on her three chosen study programmes.
Quota 2 applicants will find out whether they have been accepted to a study programme on 30 July 2017.
