Financial adjustment at the Department of Sports Science and Biomechanics

The Department of Sports Science and Biomechanics is facing a financial challenge that calls for a series of adjustments over the coming months.

By SUND Kommunikation, 3/27/2025

In recent years, The Department of Sports Science and Biomechanics has seen a decline in student enrolment, which has significantly reduced its income. At the same time, its finances have been dependent on extraordinary subsidies from the Faculty of Health Sciences – a solution that is no longer considered sustainable.

To ensure a more sustainable financial situation, the first step is an adjustment of DKK 5.1 million in 2026, gradually increasing to DKK 7 million by 2030. A mitigation phase has therefore been initiated. The aim is to identify savings and new sources of income to avoid, or at least minimize, any involuntary redundancies.

The department’s management is committed to an open and respectful process and is involving staff representatives and relevant management forums on an ongoing basis. Further information will be provided once the mitigation phase has been completed.

This financial adjustment applies solely to the Department of Sports Science and Biomechanics and does not affect the other departments within the faculty. The faculty management is closely monitoring the situation and supporting the department throughout the process.
