In the following, you can read about how you can best distinguish between the university and the hospital, which, despite their very close collaboration, are two independent institutions.

    • If you are 100% employed at EITHER a hospital or at SDU, the following rules apply:

      The main rule is that you can only apply for money to the institution where you are employed. Therefore, applications must in principle be sent from your place of work.

       

      However, there may be exceptions: If some of the people who will work on the project, as well as some of the activities, are at the other institution, the grant should be split between the 2 organizations and money placed where the activities are carried out. In this case, always contact the research support for clarification and guidance.

    • If you are employed at BOTH a hospital and at SDU, the following rules apply:

      You must decide which institution your application should be sent from. Please note that if you are a PhD student, you may well be enrolled at SDU without necessarily being employed there. The main rule is that it is usually the location of the activities and who co-finances the project that determines the host institution. You must consider whether your project will take place at the university or at a hospital, and whether the employees who will co-finance the project are employed at SDU or a hospital.

      If there are project activities at both the hospital and the university, then you must split the budget up so that the fund can see what each partner receives and delivers. Always contact the research support for clarification and guidance.


  • It is important that the money you apply for is used in the organization to which the money is given. Granted money cannot easily be transferred from, for example, the university to the hospital, and you may therefore risk receiving a grant that you cannot use. In addition, in connection with certain grants, there are different rules for overhead for the projects, depending on which organization is receiving the funds applied for.

  • Your application and budget (regardless of amount) must ALWAYS be approved by the Head of department before you send an application. The department secretariat would like to help you with the application's budget and obtaining approval of the budget.

  • If you apply for more than DKK 50,000, your budget must ALWAYS be approved by the financially responsible management at your hospital. This will ensure that the budget is drawn up correctly, that budget items are included with the correct amounts, and that any overhead is correctly calculated.
