In this newsletter, we focus on the Faculty of Health Sciences’ drop-in workshop and course offerings, as well as the recent update in itslearning.

Open workshop and courses at the Faculty of Health Sciences

Basic course in higher education pedagogy for new lecturers and clinical associate professors

The basic course in higher education pedagogy is aimed at new lecturers and clinical associate professors at the Faculty of Health Sciences and provides a fundamental introduction to pedagogy.

As a participant, you will also experience different teaching methods first-hand and receive a practical introduction to SDU’s available tools, including itslearning (the e-learning platform).

A course runs in the spring and another in the autumn.

The course lasts one and a half days. Read more via the registration links:

One of our recent participants wrote:

– It was an eye-opener to take part in the course. I have always considered myself an individual learner and have never really liked group work. In just seven hours, I had taken part in five different types of group work without really noticing it. That’s what I call solid craftsmanship. Teaching feels far less daunting now than before. So thank you for an excellent course!

Course in Team-Based Learning (TBL) on 31 August 2026

The teaching method TBL can be used in both small and large classes – and there is growing interest in the distinctive question design that forms the DNA of Team-Based Learning.

A new course will therefore be held in Dialogen (M-0.60) at the Faculty of Health Sciences on 31 August, 12:30–15:30 – on-site participation is recommended, but online participation is possible. Registration deadline: 24 August 2026

A bit more about TBL:

TBL is based on working with authentic cases and is a relevant and effective teaching method across subjects and levels.

TBL develops students’ ability to engage in academic dialogue, argumentation and decision-making – all competences that are crucial in their future professional practice.

As such, this teaching approach is an effective and relevant supplement to more traditional teaching, and students experience Team-Based Learning as both motivating and committing.

SUND Teach seminar on 22 October 2026 – note new date

Registration is now open for this year’s SUND Teach seminar for lecturers, course coordinators, Heads of Studies and students at the Faculty of Health Sciences:

Please register for the SUND Teach seminar by 15 October.

The seminar will be held at Campus Odense from 12:30–15:30. Online participation is possible, but on-site attendance is recommended.

The programme is organised by lecturers from the Faculty of Health Sciences in collaboration with the faculty’s learning consultants. The programme will be published as soon as possible, but mark your calendar already now.

The seminar will generally be conducted in Danish but may be held in English if required.

Itslearning

The resources page has a new layout

As announced back in August 2025, the resources page now has a new layout. The Resource tree has been replaced by the Content map.

The Content map can be accessed from the left-hand menu, which now also includes the following new items:

  • Trash can: Now easier to find – and still only visible to lecturers
  • My pinned activities: You can pin up to 10 items for quick access. This is a personal setting, which students can also use

In addition to the new menu items, a breadcrumb navigation system has been introduced. This creates a path at the top of the page showing your location within the resources, allowing you to click easily back and forth between different tabs.

There is also a new option for bulk actions, enabling you to manage multiple resources at the same time.

You can read more about the update on the itslearning website.
