Construction of the Maersk 2 building

We have received the following update from TC Anlæg about the construction of The Maersk 2 building.

March has passed, the weather has provided lots of sunshine and it is time for a short newsletter.

The past month has mainly consisted of sunshine, excavation and demolition. The excavation for Mærsk 2 has almost reached its end and the demolition of the tech tunnel has been completed. We started March by removing the last dirt from around the old TEK tunnel whereafter the demolition began. A lot of big machines were applied to destroy and remove the tunnel. The remaining concrete was piled up on the western part of the site where it was crushed and parts will later be reused.

The site work crew has, apart from the dirt removal and excavation, also restructured the big rainwater pipe which runs south of building 44. The restructuring of the pipes has finished and it will now be made ready for the connection of wells in both ends as well as covering it up so that the foundation work close to the buildings can begin.

The concrete department of TC Anlæg has arrived on site and has during March armed and cast foundations by the southwest staircase. Thereafter they initiated the foundations by the eastern staircase and the elevator.

In April it is our hope that the good weather will return. There will be ongoing work to excavate further for the concrete crew to finish the foundations. The assembly of elements will start as planned in the summer. Due to further foundation work, the foundations along building 44 will be attached to the existing foundations. For this reason, you must expect noise in the building when the drilling is performed. In addition, the foundations will be filled with gravel. This gravel will be flattened by vibratory plates which may cause noise.

Noisy work in the coming period:

General use of vibratory plates by building 44.
Week 16-17 – Drilling of existing foundations by building 44.
