Equipment for hybrid meetings

The department has a Meeting Owl with built-in camera, microphone and speaker. This solution is mobile and best for smaller meetings (less than 10 participants). The advantage here is that you simply run the meeting over a computer, and that you can use all meeting systems (Zoom, Microsoft Teams, etc.).

In addition, the department has a Poly Studio USB camera with built-in microphone and speaker, and voice detection so that the camera follows the person speaking. The system can handle two screens. It is fully integrated with Microsoft Teams, but can also run Zoom via a browser. The department has chosen to mount it on a trolley, but it can also be fixed in a meeting room. The system works with up to 30 people.

The systems are reserved for the department's own employees.

The department has several solutions for hybrid meetings:

  • A speaker, webcam and extra computer at the purchasing team
  • The Amethyst meeting room has a system on movable stand
  • The Amethyst meeting room has a system on a removable stand on wheels
  • The Ruby meeting room is equipped with a new video conferencing system for hybrid meetings
  • One of the department's research groups has a portable video conferencing kit

The number of people who can attend the meetings differs from place to place.

In general, all of the above solutions are reserved for the department's own employees.

The FKF meeting room is equipped with a Cisco system with a speaker, microphone and screens, which can be used for hybrid meetings (Zoom and Webex only). The equipment can be used if you have booked the meeting room – and as a user, please familiarise yourself with the system before use. A guide is available in the room. Employees at the Department of Physics, Chemistry and Pharmacy can book the room themselves via Outlook – other employees at the Faculty of Science can book the room by contacting Mette Søndergaard.

In addition, the department has a vacant department laptop, which can be set up in the other meeting rooms, and which can thereby be a "host" for other meetings, connected to screen, sound, etc. Several video towers are also available. Both are reserved for the department's own staff.

A camera (Logitech PTZ PRO 2), a flat screen and a microphone/speaker (Jabra Speak) are installed in the basement meeting room at the department. The optimal number of participants in a hybrid meeting will be a maximum of 15 people.

The system is reserved for the department's own employees

Dean Marianne Holmer's office is equipped with a Meeting Owl for hybrid meetings. This solution is best for smaller meetings (less than 10 participants), but by purchasing two devices plus an extra microphone, it can also be used for larger meetings. The advantage here is that you simply run the meeting over a computer, and that you can use all meeting systems (Zoom, Microsoft Teams, etc.). At the same time, it is also a mobile system.

External Relations has a portable tower, which can, however, display only one image, whereas the Meeting Owl is an intelligent system that combines images of the meeting participants, depending on who is speaking. This system can also be used with all meeting systems (Zoom, Microsoft Teams, etc.).

Both systems are reserved for the Faculty Administration's own employees.

At the University of Southern Denmark, there is  no fixed technical equipment for hybrid meetings in the meeting rooms that can be booked by all employees.

For use in hybrid teaching, auditoriums U1, U45, U55, U110 and O100 are all equipped with a so-called Wall-E, which is a stand on wheels with camera, microphone and associated audio equipment. Wall-E can also be used in other classrooms, but in that case must be booked in advance.

Alternatively, you can book a Mini Wall-E, which has two microphones, which makes it suitable for use in PhD defenses.
