During the semester

Introduction and expectations
We recommend explicitly introducing the students to the course’s content, learning goals, lecturing format as well as your expectations to students’ work and in-class interactions.

  • An introduction can be given in the first lecture or provided in text to the students on itslearning.
  • You are allowed to inform the students about the preferred channels of communication (email, e-learning platform) that you would like them to use for contacting you. It may be helpful to also inform students of within which timeframe they should expect an answer to course-related requests/questions.
  • DBM guidelines for good interactions between students and staff can be found here.
  • SDU’s Center for Teaching and Learning provides a description of the Underlying Principles of Education at SDU.

Official channels of communication with the students
The official communication platforms between lecturers and students are the e-learning platform and the lecture room.

  • Please use the e-learning platform for common announcements to ensure that all students receive it.
  • Student-specific communication can be handled via email. However please pay attention at GDPR rules for the handling of students’ personal data.
