Guidelines for Discussion Papers

Please send Caroline (caros@sam.sdu.dk) a copy of each manuscript when you submit it to a scientific journal! Please send all your new scientific manuscripts as soon as they are completed for adding them to the series.

A twin of each new discussion paper is created and added on the departments website and uploaded to S-WoPEc (Scandinavia Working Paper in Economics) so that it can be found in many well-known databases like IDEAS.

Due to changes in SSRN, we can no longer upload the discussion papers onto SSRN for you. We however highly encourage you to upload it once we have sent the new created version of your paper. Here is a guideline on how to upload it onto SSRN.

Thus, we should like to encourage you all, and in particular PhD students, to submit their research manuscripts to our series as soon as they are ready for publication. Each discussion paper will be included in numerous public repositories (see above) so that your findings may be freely accessed, which (a) increases the chance that your paper will be cited, (b) prevents other researchers from stealing your ideas, and (c) enables feedback from a large number of scientists. Note that a manuscript is not rejected by a scientific journal on the grounds that it exists in discussion paper form. Moreover, most journals allow keeping the discussion paper online even after it has appeared as a journal article.

For those who did not do this already, please register in IDEAS via RePEc (https://authors.repec.org/) and in SSRN (http://www.ssrn.com/) in order to increase your own visibility in the economic society. The registration procedures will take just a few minutes.

Editorial Policy:

This discussion paper series is devoted to the fields of research and interest of the members of the Department of Economics. A manuscript is acceptable for publication if it makes a contribution to some of these fields and this is approved by some member of the department, who has a PhD or a comparable qualification. PhD students should obtain their supervisors’ approval.

Technical Requirements:

Subsequent to the abstract some keywords and the JEL classification(s) are required. Papers in pdf should be sent to Caroline.

Please notify us when one of your discussion papers has been accepted by a scientific journal.

Please find the discussion papers from the Department of Economics here.
