A new phase
The transformation of the study administration at SDU - what happens now?
The work to transform SDU's study administration has now entered a new phase.
The steering committee (the deputy director of studies and the heads of secretariat at the faculties) is analysing how the university's study administration can become more efficient and coherent. The goal is clear; we must ensure a study administration that delivers high-quality service to students and lecturers, while SDU is ready to start using a new student information system.
To give direction to the work, the executive board has set three key goals:
- Better utilisation of resources - the goal is to free up 10% in educational administration full-time equivalents - Resources need to be freed up for the implementation of the new study information system, but also for other upcoming initiatives, such as the implementation of the Master's degree reform or for other tasks at the university.
- Students and lecturers must experience a study administration that provides high quality service - Students and lecturers must be able to feel that the study administration works well. The proposed solutions must be orientated around the needs of students and lecturers.
- Preparing for the new student information system - The switchboard prepares SDU for the implementation of the new system. Before the implementation starts in 2027, we need to standardise a wide range of educational administration processes and workflows and ensure that we have an overview of who will have which roles and rights to the system.
How do we move forward?
Right now, the steering committee is exploring possible solutions. Some solutions may involve organisational changes, and other solutions may involve standardisation and/or digitalisation. It is a prerequisite that the steering committee's recommendations for final decisions by the executive board are based on a data-driven and informed foundation. Workshops, in-depth analysis and the involvement of subject matter experts will help the steering committee identify where changes are needed and what works well today.
The first crucial decisions will be made before the summer break, and in September we will inform whether there will be changes in the organisation. If the switchboard means that some employees will have new tasks or roles, or need to move location, they will be notified by Christmas 2025.
