Apply for Funding to Develop EPICUR Learning Elements
It is now possible to apply for funding to develop and implement learning elements within the framework of the EPICUR alliance.
What can be Supported?
This funding call supports activities that:
- Develop or adapt courses to be offered within the EPICUR alliance.
- Foster innovative and transnational learning elements across EPICUR partner universities.
The learning activity should:
- Allow SDU students to participate and benefit from courses with an EPICUR learning element.
Enable students from EPICUR partner universities to enroll in SDU courses
Funding Overview
Total Pool: 800,000 DKK
Maximum Grant per Activity: 50,000 DKK
Application Deadline: 2 January 2025
Allocation of Funds
Autumn 2024: 500,000 DKK (current call)
Spring 2025: 300,000 DKK
Funds will be disbursed as soon as possible after approval.

Eligibility Criteria
To qualify for funding, activities must:

Develop courses to be offered in the EPICUR alliance under one
of these formats:
- Open Courses
- Integrated Learning Experiences
- Integrated EPICUR Courses
- Horizontal Courses
- Joint Degrees
- Promote transnational collaboration and innovation within EPICUR.
- Align with SDU's strategic goals on internationalisation and teaching quality.
- Be implemented by 31 October 2026 (end of the current funding period).
Assessment:
- Applications will be evaluated in terms of quality and relevance.
- Only applications aiming at actual EPICUR activities / learning elements will be considered.
- Priority will be given to:
- projects involving both course development and teaching,
- projects involving 30+ students
EPICUR Course Formats

Open Courses:
SDU courses open to both SDU and EPICUR students (e.g., electives, short-term programmes). Courses must be at least 3 ECTS and may include:- Summer schools (max. 3 weeks).
- Online (synchronous or asynchronous).
- Hybrid or blended formats (with minimal in-person attendance).
- Integrated EPICUR Learning Experiences:
- Joint learning activities in courses (e.g., online exercises, projects, fieldwork, guest lectures) developed by two or more EPICUR universities. Each participating university has their own course but certain elements in the courses are joint.
- Integrated EPICUR Courses:
- Joint courses that are integrated into study programmes at two or more EPICUR universities. These are collaboratively developed and co-taught.
- Horizontal Courses:
- Introductory courses, typically for first-year bachelor's students, available across faculties or targeted programmes. These are often 1 ECTS but may vary.
- Joint Degrees:
- Fully integrated bachelor's or master's programmes jointly offered by EPICUR universities.
