Research policy
Would you like to help shape the EU’s research policy?
On 1 July, Denmark takes over the EU Presidency. This gives SDU researchers unique opportunities to take part in important discussions about the role of research and innovation in the Europe of the future.
Research and innovation has risen to the top of the European agenda and will play a key role in the coming years as Europe faces a new and uncertain geopolitical situation.
And when Denmark takes over the EU Presidency on 1 July, the negotiations will begin about the European efforts in research, innovation and space travel in the coming years. For the University of Southern Denmark and its researchers, this means special strategic opportunities to engage in direct dialogue with EU politicians and to help shape the future of European research.
Seize the opportunities
Jens Ringsmose, Rector of SDU, strongly urges SDU researchers to seize these opportunities to make a mark on the European research policy of the future:
- I greatly appreciate that the EU’s ambitions for research and innovation are sky high. Without more and better research and innovation, the EU will not succeed in solving the many challenges that Europe is facing, he says and continues:
- But to realise the potential, it is important that the EU politicians are made aware of important issues, such as the role of basic research in innovation and the risks of short-term political control of research and innovation. The many conferences on research and innovation in connection with Denmark’s EU Presidency offer a unique opportunity for SDU researchers to bring their knowledge into play and contribute to shaping European research and innovation policy.
