The Festival of Research is the perfect opportunity to show off your university to friends and family and delve into some of the exciting things happening on campus! As always, SDU offers lots of free events:
On 24 April at 16–19:30
Join us for an exciting theme evening on societal security and emergency preparedness at SDU Esbjerg. Mette Østergaard, Director of Communications at Danish Industry, will lead a distinguished research panel, including Assistant Professor and hybrid warfare expert André Ken Jacobsen, who will share insights on preventing IT sabotage. Professor Egon Bjørnshave Noe will offer a ‘rural perspective on prepping’, and Professor of Clinical Psychology Ask Elklit will explore the question: ‘Is Denmark a resilient society in times of crisis?’.
On Friday 25 April at 15–17
Delve into the development, challenges and opportunities of AI at SDU Kolding. Join us for inspiring presentations and research pitches from, among others, PhD student Anton Danholt Lautrup, Professor Jan Stentoft and digital trend analyst and futurist Christiane Vejlø. Participate in small workshops to learn how AI impacts our lives and discover why humans remain indispensable in a technological future.
On Saturday 26 April at 10–13
SDU Sønderborg offers an exciting program full of activities for all ages. Participate in the "Build the Change" Lego workshop at the library, learn more about 3D printing, and explore the latest advances in organic solar cells. Improve your public speaking skills, get a taste of the vertical farming of the future, and experience a telepresence robot in action.
On Saturday 26 April at 10–16
Bring the whole family to a science-filled day at SDU Odense. Enjoy over 50 different activities, including insights into the health technology of the future in our cross-faculty MedTech area. Clement Kjersgaard hosts four research talks about Security policy in Europe together with Peter Viggo Jakobsen, Steen Rynning and Rasmus Glenthøj; Extreme weather with Sebastian Mernild, Dikte Reeh Andersen and Christian Koch; Screen Time with Aida Bikic and Anders Grøntved; and The United States after the election with Jørn Brøndahl and Niels Bjerre-Poulsen.
We are also introducing a new concept, ‘What is the point of...?’, where you can explore various current topics with researchers such as Søren Harnow Klausen, Steen Schaumburg Müller and Ane Qvortrup in just 15 minutes.
Join comedian and TV host Jan Elhøj as he delves into topics like microdosing and conspiracy theories. He will be joined on stage by researchers Kasper Grotle Rasmussen, Mikael Palner, Jan Wilhelm Kornfeldt, Signe Banke and Henrik Wenzel.
Kids can meet Motor Mille and the Children’s Researcher Gang and learn more about waste sorting together with Professor Lykke Margot Richard, among others. Those who are environmentally and fashion-conscious can join a discussion on greenwashing in the fashion industry, consumption and sustainability together with DK's leading sustainability influencer Gittemarie Johansen and three SDU researchers: Ida Raunkjær, Tau Lenskjold and Rasmus Paulsen Holm.
This year, the Faculty of Health Sciences is introducing many exciting events. Visit the brand-new Department of Forensic Medicine and hop on the tramway for a guided tour of OUH. Plus, in honour of the event, tramway travel between all SDU stops is free!
