Study Administration

Next Step in the Transformation of SDU's Study Administration

SDU is now taking a further step in the transformation of its study administration.

The Rectorate and the Deputy Director of Studies will initiate a dialogue with management and collegial bodies on the approach to the transformation and which recommendations from the analysis should be prioritised first. The transformation must happen in synergy with existing projects and their demands on the study administration while maintaining secure operations.

The work stems from the comprehensive analysis that was published in early 2023. You can read the report and the Rectorate's memorandum here (in Danish).

Since the publication of the analysis, several concrete steps have been taken towards addressing the organisation of the study administration:

  • In June 2023, SDU's Board approved a new strategy for SDU with revised ambitions and goals for the university, including the field of studies.
  • On January 1, 2024, Stinne Hørup Hansen began as Deputy Director of Studies, responsible for Student Services. The Deputy Director plays a central role in the continued implementation of the transformation of the study administration at SDU and will thus help shape the future study administrative organisation at SDU.
  • The Deputy Director assessed that there was an immediate need to create a change capacity in Student Services as well as a foundation for secure operations, which required a reorganisation of Student Services. In the first half of 2024, the Deputy Director established a reorganisation of the departments and a name change to SDU Education, as well as securing the leadership team. The next step is to hire a project manager for the transformation of the study administration.
  • Throughout 2023 and 2024, the NewSIS programme has mapped the main processes and areas of responsibility within the study administration. This mapping will be a valuable tool in the ongoing organisation of the study administration.
  • Over the past year, SDU has also worked systematically to simplify administrative processes, including those within the study administration. This work has highlighted organisational differences between faculties and created a recognition of the need for change to fully reap the benefits of process simplification.
