Phishing campaign

Phishing campaign – Did you click too?

In March 2023, SDU conducted a phishing campaign.

By SDU Digital, 5/17/2023

The results have now been analysed and communicated to management. The overall result showed that 19.2% of users clicked on the link in the email and provided their login details. On the face of it, this is an improvement compared to the phishing campaign carried out back in 2019, when around 30% clicked on the link. However, the two studies are not fully comparable.

There is still a need to raise awareness about fraudulent emails. Your local management has received an anonymised statement broken down into cost centres where there are more than 5 employees. SDU Digital Compliance recommends that the result is discussed locally in your unit.

Tips for spotting fake emails:

  • Always remember to check the sender - is the email from someone you know? Or an organisation you trust? Are you expecting the mail? Pay particular attention if you are asked for information or money.
  • Occasionally, due to SDU's heightened security you will be asked to provide verification and you will be asked for login details. Always check the address of the page that is requesting verification.
  • If in doubt, ask a colleague or call the IT Service Desk at 6550 2990
