About the agreement

Researchers from SDU and the University hospitals in the Region of Southern Denmark publish open access free of charge in a number of journals from Cambridge University Press (CUP). Open access costs are covered instead by an agreement between Danish research institutions and CUP. The agreement is in effect from January 1st, 2023, up to and including 2025.

Journal articles published in the first months of the agreement can be made open access retrospectively.

The agreement covers a selection of journals which can be seen here: Cambridge Open Access Agreement

There is a national upper limit on how many articles can be published under the agreement each year.  For 2023, this limit is 97 articles. If and when the limit is reached, open access fees will be applied with a reduced prize of 10%.

Pure open access journals are excluded from the agreement.

Conditions

To have open access covered by the agreement, the following conditions must be met:

  • The article must be accepted by the journal between Janyary 1st , 2023, and December 31st , 2025.
  • The article must be of the type 'Research articles' which also includes review articles, rapid communication, brief reports and case reports.
  • The Corresponding Author* must be affiliated to SDU or a University Hospital in the Region of Southern Denmark. Please use your "sdu" or "rsyd" email when you submit the article.
  • The Corresponding author must choose to publish open access when the article is accepted in one of the journals included in the agreement.
  • The Corresponding author can choose a CC BY license or alternatively CC BY-NC, CC BY-NC-SA or CC BY-NC-ND.

*The Corresponding Author  is in this agreement defined as the single author who corresponds with the journal at the time of acceptance.

Questions about the agreement can be directed to the SDU Library's Open Access Team at open-access@bib.sdu.dk.
