SDU Business School
Week 3: Working group focusing on administrative organisation
The work has begun to identify the administrative solutions needed to support the separation of SDU Business School (SBS) and the Faculty of Social Sciences (SAMF).
Status from the working group focusing on the administrative organisation of both SAMF and SBS
The working group responsible for delivering proposals for the design of the future administrative structure at SBS and SAMF met before Christmas. The group agreed to involve the administrative managers in the faculty administration and at the departments – including IEB and IVL – at SAMF.
On 7 January, a meeting was held between the working group and the administrative managers at SAMF. At this meeting, the managers had the opportunity to share their perspectives on the current and future organisation.
At the meeting, the University Director emphasised that the working group is approaching its task with an open mind and highlighted that SDU’s Board has decided to establish a Business School, but not how the administrative organisation should be structured. The working group will therefore develop various models for organising the administration at SBS and SAMF.
The University Director also informed the participants that the working group has been asked to prepare a proposal for an administrative organisation model, which is to be presented to the steering committee in March. As the process moves forward, the administrative managers at SAMF – including those at IEB and IVL – will be involved.
Further information about the tasks of the working group, the overall organisation of the implementation work, as well as the names of the members of the various forums and working groups, can be found here.
The other working groups in the implementation process are also in progress
Working group on academic organisation
The working group on academic organisation has been established and has set up two subgroups focusing on gathering inspiration from, respectively, other business schools and Danish monodisciplinary departments.
A questionnaire has been sent to academic staff (VIP) at IEB and IVL to gather further input for the design principles.
Dialogue Forum
It has been decided to continue the dialogue forum that was established at SAMF during the consultation period leading up to the Board’s decision on 4 December. The Dialogue Forum is currently being expanded to ensure that all departments as well as the Academic Council are represented.
In addition, student representatives are being appointed to the Dialogue Forum so that the students’ perspectives are also included in the work.
The Dialogue Forum will:
- Receive ongoing updates on the implementation
- Discuss matters of importance to staff and students
- Contribute input to the steering committee
A meeting of the Dialogue Forum will be held on 27 February.
