The University is divided into public areas, where access is available 24/7, and non-public areas, where access without an employee ID card or code is limited to between 7:00 – 17:00.

  • Public areas are the areas where students, guests and staff have access around the clock. Public areas are characterised by the fact that no permanent staff are attached, which means that only emergency procedure information can be provided.

The areas are equipped with safety points located in central locations. Safety information is posted in auditoriums, classrooms and meeting rooms. Emergency procedure information is also integrated into orientation maps on campus.

To make the emergency procedure in public areas reassuring, the information looks the same regardless of which campus you are on.

Technical Services is responsible for the establishment, operation and maintenance of the materials in public areas.

  • The non-public areas cover the areas where faculties, departments and sections are located and where access for students and guests is restricted.

Due to limited access to the areas and the lack of permanently assigned staff, a reassuring culture of emergency response procedure can be established by informing employees about the local risks and instructing them on how to handle hazardous situations. This is communicated in the local emergency procedure plan.

Each unit in the non-public areas is responsible for the local emergency procedure plan. The local emergency procedure plan is available on the unit’s web page at www.sdu.dk. The unit is responsible for ensuring that staff complete an annual evacuation drill.
