Reference Management

You can save a lot of time using a reference management tool. Once you have some references in your reference library, they're easily placed in articles or power points, and the list of references will generate automatically. References can be downloaded from research article - or bibliographic databases, or manually created by the user.

EndNote

Employees at SDU can install the EndNote program on their SDU computer via the Software Center. Alternatively, employees can install it via https://software.sdu.dk (requires SDU login).

Use the EndNote Guide  to find instructions and help for both the installation and general use. The guide is in Danish, but you can easily translate a page to your  prefered language with your browser 's translator feature.  If you need further assistance after reviewing the EndNote guide, you can sign up for one of our workshopsYou can also delve into EndNote's official guide.

Contact

For request of specific courses concerning EndNote or reference management  - or if you need more information please contact us: endnote@bib.sdu.dk.

Other tools

There are other reference management tools, e.g. Zotero og Mendeley, whose basic versions can be downloaded for free from the Internet. Please note though that since SDU does not have a licens to these two , you won't be able to use them in Word if you work with the Office Package through SDU due to security reasons. The University Library only offers general support for Zotero and Mendeley.

Which reference style?

When writing academia, one have to live up to certain demands about citing and refering to the sources correctly. There are many standards to choose from: AMA, APA, MLA are just a few. Every field of study has it's preferences - and there is often an organisation behind the specific style. If you need help for a specific style, you can find many guides and tutorials online, but it is always adviceable to go to the official source. Below you can see which styles are connected to the different fields of study, and you can find links to the reference style resources.
