Waste sorting

Waste sorting is nothing new at SDU. As a university, we have been sorting waste behind the scenes for many years. Technical Services ensures that organic waste, metal waste, electronic waste and other waste categories are sorted into 32 fractions so that the environmental and waste company Marius Pedersen A/S and other partners can transport the waste safely to the right treatment area.

In 2023, SDU began installing waste sorting stations at its campuses so that staff, students and visitors can sort their waste. With the installation of waste sorting stations at SDU, we are taking one more step towards better waste sorting and thus a higher recycling of the planet’s limited resources.

Below, you can watch a short video about waste sorting at SDU and how you can avoid the typical mistakes that happen when sorting your waste.

Did you know that...

in 2022, at SDU we produced 567 tonnes of waste, of which 49% was recycled? By comparison, in 2022, each Danish resident produced 813 kg of household waste.
