SDU to offer new education programmes

The Minister for Higher Education and Science has approved new education offerings

SDU has been given the go-ahead from the Ministry of Higher Education and Science to create five new degree programmes – two bachelor programmes and three master's degree programmes. The first students will be welcomed as early as September this year.

The following new programmes have been approved:

BSc in Artificial Intelligence at the Faculty of Science in Odense
This programme will provide students with a comprehensive understanding of the technology behind artificial intelligence – also known as AI. The students will also learn about the many applications of AI technology and how to utilise it.
The study is set to start in September 2023.

Master of Science (BSc and MSc) in Software Engineering at the Faculty of Engineering, Sønderborg
Offered in English, the programme is part of the Faculty of Engineering’s research and education initiatives in Sønderborg, where SDU will set up the Centre for Industrial Software (CIS) in close cooperation with the local business community.
The bachelor programme opens its doors in September 2023, and the MSc programme will be launched in 2024.

MSc in Populations Studies at the Faculty of Business and Social Sciences, Odense
This is Denmark’s first education programme to focus on demographics and the work on population projections. The programme is in English and affiliated with the Interdisciplinary Centre on Population Dynamics (cPOP).
The programme will be launched in September 2024.

MSc in Sport and Health Science at the Faculty of Health Sciences, Esbjerg
Since 2015, SDU Odense has offered competition and elite sports as a field of specialisation in the existing MSc degree programme in Sport and Health Science. Over the years, large parts of the specialisation have been relocated to SDU Esbjerg, and with the approval of a new education branch, the profile can now be consolidated in Esbjerg.
The study will start in September 2023.
