About New SIS

Finding the replacement for STADS

Better IT support and optimised processes to benefit students and employees

Last summer saw the restart of the programme for the acquisition of a new Study Information System (New SIS) as a replacement for STADS.
SDU belongs to a programme community with six of the country’s other universities. The national pro-gramme is responsible for setting up a national standard solution, called ‘Master Solution’, with stand-ard main processes and national integrations.

In the autumn, several staff from the study administration at the faculties, SDU Student Services and SDU IT were already involved in some of the preparatory work leading up to the choice of the future supplier. As part of the preparations, in the autumn seven national process groups were established with management representatives and key professionals from each university. In a series of workshops, the national process groups have worked to align the common business needs and prepare for engaging in a comprehensive dialogue with the future supplier.

SDU also has its own programme

The programme will prepare SDU for the implementation of the standard solution, and it will ensure that we integrate and configure all the business areas and processes that are not covered by Master Solution.

An overall focus of the implementation task is that we must create a broad and well-functioning collaboration structure across the study administrative units in the Central Administration and in the faculties and departments. New SIS will become part of the way we live and work with study administration.

A first approach is that under the auspices of the business track a total of eight process groups have been established, whose areas of responsibility will match both the main process areas in the national programme and the process areas that are important in terms of SDU’s local setup. This involves the participation of up to 50 professional experts from both faculties and central administration.

When do the process groups begin?

Work in the process groups starts up in the spring. The first task that the process groups will work on is process mapping of the current main process areas. This will be done in a series of workshops running until September 2023.
