SDU’s Bachelor programmes – standby and available places

On 1 February, the website optagelse.dk opened for applications to the Bachelor programmes commencing in autumn 2024 at universities in Denmark. Prior to this year’s admissions, the exact number of student places was agreed upon at meetings between the faculties and SDU’s management in January.

For admissions in 2023, SDU introduced standby admissions to significantly more programmes compared to previous years. For 2024, SDU has increased the number of programmes that use the standby scheme to admit students. The number of standby student places is determined based on historical data on the number of applicants who do not accept the offered place or who drop out before 1 October. If standby student places are offered, this will be indicated on the pages of the programmes at sdu.dk.

For this year’s intake, for selected programmes, available places will be offered in the second round if the capacity is not filled. This will be announced on sdu.dk on 26 July.

uniTEST proctors want to pass on the great experience

In 2024, SDU will run the uniTEST online for all applicants applying in quota 2. Applicants can take the uniTEST between 5–20 April. The test is taken online from home via Zoom. During the test, a proctor from SDU will monitor the applicant’s screen. To this end, SDU has hired around 300 students who will serve as online uniTEST proctors. To be considered for the position as a uniTEST proctor, one must be enrolled as a student at SDU and able to give applicants a good first impression of SDU.

SDU IT and the Admissions Office have just held interviews with more than 300 interested and highly committed students. During the interviews, several people explained that they took the uniTEST themselves back in the day and now want to help ensure prospective students have the same great experience.

During their employment, uniTEST proctors are trained to handle the task at hand. They must attend a mandatory information session and half a day of hands-on training. This allows them to try out the entire technical set-up, make use of IT support, report suspected cheating in the intended apps, etc. During training, the proctors will also test the scripts, ensuring all applicants receive uniform information, a friendly and welcoming reception and, not least, wrap-up of their test. As part of the quota 2 intake, selected programmes at SDU will also carry out individual subject-specific activities, which are an extension of the uniTEST.

The uniTEST proctors will be working in room 24/7 at SDU Odense, and the room is therefore closed to current students between 18 March – 29 April.

SDU’s Master’s degree programmes – international focus and new programmes

The Master’s degree programme intake for 2024 has, among other things, focused on admitting as many international students as possible within the framework available to SDU. In 2024, SDU will offer eight new Master’s degree programmes across SDU’s four campus cities. SDU’s programme offerings can be found at sdu.dk.
