About well-being

The fourth season of the 'Studielivet' podcast has dropped

‘Guidance-to-go’ for your students – and for you

By SDU Education, 3/27/2025

Back in 2021, Counselling and Study Support started the Studielivet (Student Life) podcast, which explores aspects of student life and addresses the challenges you may encounter as a student. The podcast, which is in Danish, is an opportunity to learn more and discuss the things that can be difficult to put into words.

Studielivet is now in its fourth season, and the first episode was released in early March. A new episode will be released every two weeks for the rest of the semester.

Topics in the fourth season include how to juggle student life and family life as a parent, a story about being a hairdresser who became a PhD student, and the use of artificial intelligence in education.

Why a guidance podcast?

Podcasts are a popular medium and more than 50% of all young people listen to podcasts several times a week. Therefore, the medium was an obvious opportunity to reach a group of students who might not seek guidance in other ways. At the same time, the podcast is easily accessible and students can listen to it whenever it suits them. This makes Studielivet a mobile guidance format, a kind of guidance-to-go.

Studielivet focuses on guidance and is hosted by student counsellors. Each episode features an interview with a student, a practitioner or a researcher who knows a lot about the topic. In addition to asking questions, the counsellor summarises and clarifies what is being discussed, making it relevant to each individual student’s study life. The programme includes exciting conversations about student life, along with advice on study techniques, exam preparation and well-being, all designed to inspire students to make the most of their time at university.

What can you use Studielivet for?

Students can benefit from listening to an episode of the podcast before talking to a counsellor, secretary or other resource personnel about a given issue. For instance, by listening to an episode on cheating in exams or studying abroad prior to the counselling, the student gains an understanding of the topic, allowing the conversation to delve into what it means for the student’s specific situation.

As an employee, there may be topics you would like to learn more about, and Studielivet can be a great place to start. The podcast can give you an insight into the university landscape and the different themes and perspectives of student life.
