Jakob Grauslund appointed as the new head of department for IRS at the University of Southern Denmark
As of 1 April, the Faculty of Health Sciences at the University of Southern Denmark has appointed a new head of department for the Department of Regional Health Research (IRS). Jakob Grauslund has previously served as chief consultant, clinical professor, and research leader at the Department of Clinical Research, Research Unit of Ophthalmology.

Jakob Grauslund is known for his research, which has significantly contributed to the understanding and treatment of diabetes and eye diseases in particular. Under his leadership, the department will continue to focus on innovation and research within the regional healthcare system.

– Jakob Grauslund is an exceptionally skilled research leader who brings both deep insight and a strong passion for patient-oriented research to this important position. We are very pleased that he has agreed to head IRS.
In addition to his position as chief ophthalmologist at the Department of Ophthalmology E, Odense University Hospital, Jakob Grauslund has been affiliated with Steno Diabetes Center Odense. He has published 230 research articles in international journals and is also the lead author of the national guidelines for screening and treatment of diabetic eye disease.

Jakob Grauslund was born and raised in Haderslev. Since 2010, he has been married to Julie Grauslund, and together they have two children, Vilma and Noah. His limited free time is spent with his family, and his personal interests include Danish and American history, port wine, chess, and football.
