Open drop-in workshop: Get advice from the Faculty of Health Sciences’ learning consultants

Would you like advice on planning your teaching, changing methods of assessment, adapting learning objectives, designing TBL questions, implementing AI or anything else related to teaching? Then drop by the open workshop, where the Faculty of Health Sciences’ learning consultants, Iben and Anne, will be available to help.

You are also welcome to send material for review before the workshop: ibra@health.sdu.dk.

Tip: Why not bring your colleagues along and hold your working meeting at the workshop?

The open drop-in workshops will take place:

• Thursday 27 August, 13:00–15:00 in M-1.12 Egetræet
• Thursday 22 October, 09:00–11:00 in M-2.13 Solsikken

Basic teaching course for new lecturers and clinical associate professors

The basic teaching course is aimed at new lecturers and clinical associate professors at the Faculty of Health Sciences and provides a basic introduction to teaching and learning. As a participant, you will also experience a range of teaching methods first-hand and receive a practical introduction to the tools available at SDU, including itslearning (the e-learning platform).

One course will be offered in autumn 2026 and another in spring 2027.

The course lasts 1½ days, and you can find more information via the registration links.

• Basic teaching course – autumn 2026 on 2 November (09:00–15:30) and 7 December (12:30–15:30).
  Location: Dialogen (online participation is possible on 7 December).
  Registration deadline: 26 October.

• Basic teaching course – spring 2027 on 5 April (09:00–15:30) and 10 May (12:30–15:30).
  Location: Dialogen (online participation is possible on 10 May).
  Registration deadline: 19 March.

Interested in a Team-Based Learning course in English?

We have received a few enquiries about a Team-Based Learning (TBL) course in English. If you or your colleagues might be interested in taking part in an English-language TBL course, we would be very pleased to hear from you. If there is sufficient interest, we will coordinate a date that suits everyone interested in participating.

A little more about TBL: TBL is based on working with real-world cases and is a relevant and effective teaching method across all subjects and levels. TBL develops students’ ability to engage in academic dialogue, construct arguments and make decisions – all skills that are essential to their future professional practice. This teaching approach is therefore an effective and relevant supplement to more traditional teaching methods, and students find participating in Team-Based Learning both motivating and engaging.

Leganto – create reading lists and link directly to library materials

A new app has been added to the rooms in itslearning: Leganto literature list. A corresponding Resource has also been added to itslearning: Leganto literature link.

Leganto is a digital tool for managing course and reading lists that allows you to link directly to teaching materials in the University Library of Southern Denmark’s catalogues. Leganto can therefore make it easier to collect and share course materials with students.

Updated design in Mymedia (Kaltura)

Mymedia (Kaltura) has been given an updated layout and an improved user experience. The basic functions remain the same, but you will notice changes to the user interface. For example, you can now share several videos with colleagues at the same time.

Note: Known issue when using Dashboards and project rooms (Groups): An error message is currently displayed when embedding media from Mymedia in a Note. The issue has been reported to itslearning, and we are awaiting a solution.

Itslearning: Target Plans at specific students

Itslearning has introduced the option to differentiate plans, meaning that Plans can now be targeted at selected students or groups.

Help shape the requirements for our e-learning system – reference group for the LMS tender project is looking for participants

We are looking for 1–2 engaged lecturers to join a reference group in connection with the upcoming tender for SDU’s Learning Management System (LMS). The contract with itslearning is coming to an end, so we need to identify the solution that will best support teaching and learning in the future.

As a participant, you will have the opportunity to contribute your experience and perspectives and thereby help shape the requirements for a future platform that will have a significant impact on lecturers and students. We welcome input both from lecturers with experience of itslearning and from those with experience of other e-learning platforms.

EdHub is ready to help – support before, during and after teaching and examinations

Support can include help with hybrid teaching, recording and editing vodcasts, training in the use of streaming equipment or setting up digital elements for use in teaching.

Workshop/introduction

EdHub regularly holds workshops on the use of Teams Rooms and Zoom Rooms. Among other things, you can receive guidance on booking and using the tablet in the different types of rooms, giving you an insight into the options available through the system.

Support when starting an oral examination with an online external examiner

An EdHub student assistant will come to the room and guide you through setting up the system immediately before the examination begins.
