Things to consider/investigate in your lab:
- Do you know the power consumption of your devices and equipment
- Are the devices and equipment in standby mode or off?
- When are the devices equipment usually started? (In the morning, or before we use it?)
Fume hoods: Day-to-day fume hoods should not be used to store solvents etc. By closing the sash, you can save up to 40% energy! Help each other remembering closing the sash.
Cold storage: Turn the -80ºC freezer up to -70ºC and save up to 40% energy. Throw away old samples that’s not in use. Defrost the freezers.
Plug load/ equipment plugged into the wall: Turn off equipment not in use. In both labs and offices.
Plastic waste: Replace as much plastic as possible with metal and/or glass. Start sorting all the hard plastic.
Solvents: Are there greener and more safe solvents that we can use?
