Status of the restructuring, continuous updates

Development and operations go hand in hand in SDU Education

The educational administrative tasks that are currently the responsibility of the faculties will be split up. Strategic tasks (policy) will be placed close to the programme management at the faculties to support the overall academic direction. The more practical and administrative tasks (operations) will be gathered in SDU Education in Central Administration.

By Stinne Hørup Hansen, Deputy Director of Studies, 10/23/2025

This is the overall model for the distribution of strategic responsibility and operational tasks that we have established. But if we take a closer look at the tasks in SDU Education, they pass through both development and operations.

Will you have to work with both if you move from a department or faculty to Central Administration?

Yes, you will. Employees who continue their employment at SDU in SDU Education will have a central role in working with the new student study administrative system (Eduhub). The tasks in SDU Education span both academic development and operational tasks, and in practice, many functions will contain elements of both types of tasks.

There is a clear focus on ensuring stable operations, while at the same time there are extensive development tasks ahead – especially in relation to standardisation and alignment. This is not only in preparation for Eduhub, but also to be able to digitise the processes that are not covered by Eduhub.

When tasks are distributed among the faculties and the Central Administration, decision-making power will also come with the opportunity – and responsibility – to develop and improve processes and content.

All tasks will be in motion – nothing stands still. On the contrary, there will be dynamic development where employees will have the opportunity to influence both direction and content.

Professionalism and specialisation are crucial

I've spoken to employees who are worried that working in Central Administration will become monotonous and characterised by routine tasks. Many have been used to influencing their tasks locally, contributing to improvements in collaboration with colleagues and solving various policy-orientated tasks. But this flexibility is not going away and professional input is needed.

Working with core administrative tasks in SDU Education is not static. It requires professionalism and specialisation to standardise, develop processes, implement them and continuously evaluate and adjust them. The employees moving to Central Administration will play an active role in this development – both in relation to Eduhub and in the broader task portfolio.

A shared responsibility across SDU

Being part of the Central Administration means that we work with a holistic perspective – not just for one faculty, but for the whole of SDU. Decisions are coordinated and made in collaboration among all faculties.

This can be a complex task, but it is also a strength. Because the tasks in SDU Education are not just about system maintenance and process management – they are about developing and improving the overall programme administration at SDU. This requires commitment, professionalism and a willingness to look across the organisation.

Appointment of managers

In the previous update, I wrote that we are working hard to constitute the future leaders in SDU Education. At SAMF, the following two team leaders will be appointed as of 1 January 2026:

Maria Garfield Grønbjerg Jørgensen

Maria will be acting head of SAMF Planning. Maria has been at SDU for several years and at SAMF since 2010. She is responsible for the HA programme in Odense and has over the years been in charge of both exam and teaching planning for several of the social science programmes of study.

Britta Løck Worm

Britta will be acting head of EVU Planning (part-time). Britta is employed at SAMF as Head of the Secretariat of Professional Development and Executive Education, which administers diploma and master programmes for SAMF and SUND. Britta has been at SDU for a number of years and, in addition to SAMF, has also worked at HUM and TEK. A process is underway to clarify the portfolio in Team EVU Planning.

I look forward to working with Britta and Maria.
