Going Green 2025 – everyday logistics turned into 232,617 green kilometres

A total of 370 employees from SDU participated, who together travelled 232,617 green kilometres to and from work. This results in a total CO₂ saving of more than 40,000 kg CO₂ – the equivalent of five trips around the world.

In total, 1,479 participants in 82 teams have travelled green on 20,644 days and covered 350,595 kilometres. That's the equivalent of more than eight trips around the world.

The cake winners have been found

The three teams with the most green transport days per participant – and thus this year's cake winners – are:

  • Employment and Social Services – Team Claus' ladies
  • Scantron
  • Faculty of Engineering – Team Cabbage Power

See also the 25 winners of cinema tickets – which workplace they come from and how many green commuting days they had. The cinema winners were drawn by lot, with each green transport day giving one ticket.

The winners of the cake in the We Drive Green campaign's SDU raffle are: IDMU, SDUB, FKF, The Green IST, Clean Torque, Technical Services, POLIMA and TEK UDD.

SDU travels the most green kilometres

The figures show that SDU has more participants than Odense Municipality this year, and that SDU's team doesn't just sign up – no, they go for it. On the green days per user, the averages are close, but the SDU participants stay ahead. The university keeps the momentum, while the municipality – if not resigned – takes an extra little coffee break along the way.

The biggest difference is in the distances. On average, SDU participants cover about twice as many green kilometres as municipal participants. This may be due to longer commuting distances – but more likely it's because SDU employees are hard to stop once they get on their bikes. Either way, the long journeys result in CO₂ savings per participant that the municipality has to look far and wide for.

In this local comparison, SDU clearly pulls away. The municipality makes a solid contribution, but SDU sets the pace – and the municipality will probably have to tighten its cycling helmet a bit more next year if it wants to keep up.

Good experiences with the app  but it can be improved

The vast majority of participants (318 out of 370) from SDU used the Climate Campaign app this year, which made it easy to get started and register transport habits. However, the experience also shows some obvious areas for improvement.

Several people point to the need to be able to register several modes of transport on the same day and to be able to enter data backwards in time so that busy periods do not leave gaps in the statistics. In addition, there are calls for better options for team captains - for example, to be able to remove inactive participants and get clearer information about who is responsible for the team.

In short: The app works, but there are development opportunities to make it even stronger next year.

Thank you to all participants at SDU for your involvement in this year's We Go Green – and a special thank you to SDU's climate ambassadors and movement ambassadors.
