Financial Conflict of Interests

If you conduct research funded by National Institutes of Health (NIH) or similar US federal research funding agencies, then you must comply with SDU’s Financial Conflict of Interest (FCOI) policy. In practice, this means that you must complete specific FCOI training and declare any relevant financial interests.

To do so, please follow the steps below.

FCOI training
  1. Review the document “Information to researchers about SDU’s policy for Financial Conflict of Interests for research funded by NIH and other US research funding agencies” (5-15 minutes)
  2. Complete NIH’s online FCOI training, and download your completion certificate (70-90 minutes)
  3. Document your completed FCOI training by e-mail your completion certificate to SDU's FCOI office at fcoi@sdu.dk
Declaration of financial interests
  1. Download a copy of SDU’s form for reporting significant financial interests (SFIs).
  2. Complete the form
  3. E-mail your completed FCOI disclosure form to SDU's office at fcoi@sdu.dk

What happens next?
SDU's FCOI office  will receive your information and assess whether there might be a financial conflict of interest as described in SDU's FCOI policy. If it is determined that there may be a conflict of interest, then SDU's FCOI office will contact you for further clarification and to discuss how the situation could be addressed or mitigated.
