Week 18: The foundation for the academic organisation at SBS has been approved by the steering committee

The steering committee has reviewed the academic working group's analyses and models for the future organisation of the academic staff at SBS and has approved the process for the further work.

The academic working group was established with the purpose of identifying possible models for the organisation of the scientific area at SBS in the period leading up to the appointment of the SBS director.

The working group has mapped the existing organisation and management structure and developed frameworks and design criteria based on a questionnaire survey. From this, the working group has outlined four ideal models for the academic organisation and carried out initial assessment of these. The working group's report can be found here:  The Future Academic Organisation at SDU Business School (draft).

The Steering Committee would like to thank the working group for its thorough and systematic mapping work, which provides a solid and well-documented foundation for the continued process.

The further process

At its meeting on 27 April, the Steering Committee discussed the working group’s report together with the input received from the Cooperation Committee and the Academic Council.

On this basis, the Steering Committee has approved that the Head of SBS, Jacob Kjær Eskildsen, continues the work of further specifying the academic organisation, using the report as its foundation. The academic working group will continue to be involved as a sparring group in the further process.

The coming period will involve dialogues with the academic environments, and the academic organisation will be the focal point of the SBS seminar on 1 June 2026, where a proposed model for the academic organisation will be presented. In the subsequent period, there will be opportunities for further dialogue and for the involvement of staff and the collegial bodies.

The final decision on the academic organisation is expected to be made no later than 26 June 2026.

The administrative organization at SBS

In parallel, work is underway to further specify the administrative organisation of the SBS Secretariat following the announcement of the overall framework for the administrative organisation. Acting Head of Secretariat, Johanna Süssmeir, is working closely with the current institute secretariats at IVL and IEB and their respective heads.

The aim is to ensure an administrative organisation that supports and works well alongside the academic organisation at SBS. It is therefore expected that the administrative organisation will also be in place before the summer break.

Further information and questions

If employees have questions about the process, it is always possible to contact their immediate manager and/or a union representative. The site on https://sdunet.dk/da/service/business-school on SDUnet will also be updated regularly.

The next news is expected to be posted on SDUnet in week 21
