Springer Nature: More Than Just Nature – Also for Humanities and Social Sciences
Springer Nature is a well-known giant in the world of scholarly publishing, especially recognized for its strong profile in natural sciences, technology, and health. But there’s something for almost every discipline. Dive in as we skim the surface of the vast Springer ocean.
Springer Nature offers content for both the lab bench and the armchair. While best known for its strong profile in technical, natural, and health sciences – with the prestigious Nature journals at the forefront – the publisher also has a significant and growing portfolio in the humanities and social sciences.
The Nature journals are among the most prestigious publications in the world, known for publishing groundbreaking research. At the same time, Springer Nature’s expanding collection of books and journals in the humanities and social sciences covers topics ranging from education and sociology to history and philosophy. There’s something for every discipline: from advanced lab protocols and technical reference works to scholarly books and journals that support analysis, theory, and methodology.
“Negotiations with major publishers can be complex, and the cost of scientific resources is high. That’s why it’s a strength that we now have a national agreement ensuring broad access to Springer Nature’s content for both researchers and students,” says Lone Søndberg Madsen, Head of the Library’s Information Resources Department.
Springer Link is your main gateway to the full Springer portfolio, including journal articles and e-books. You can read online, download chapters – and in most cases, download entire books.
A subject-specific dive reveals, for example:
- Springer Protocols – step-by-step lab protocols in biomedicine, molecular biology, and life sciences, ready for use in the lab.
- Discipline-specific handbooks – such as the Springer Handbook of Acoustics, Springer Handbook of Nanotechnology and Springer Handbook of Robotics offering in-depth reference works for science and technology fields.
Explore Springer Link to see what’s available in your field – and feel free to reach out to your subject specialist librarian if you’d like an introduction or a short presentation for yourself, your research group, or your students.
