New Job Structure for Academic Staff and New Employment Regulation
New regulations for academic staff at universities have come into force.
The Danish Agency for Higher Education and Science has issued a new regulation on the job structure for academic staff at universities (commonly referred to as the job structure) and a regulation amending the regulation on the employment of academic staff at universities (commonly referred to as the employment regulation).
The regulations came into force on 11 April 2025.
The most significant change in the job structure is a revision of the medical sciences field, particularly the introduction of a new job category: clinical assistant professor. We are discussing the implementation in more detail with the Faculty of Health Sciences.
Additionally, the framework for fixed-term positions such as postdoctoral researchers and assistant professors/researchers has been clarified. It is now permitted to have multiple consecutive fixed-term contracts, but an individual may be employed as a postdoctoral researcher or assistant professor/researcher for a maximum of eight years at the same university. These positions must have a degree of temporal continuity.
SDUnet has been updated to reflect these changes: https://sdunet.dk/en/servicesider/hr/rekruttering-og-onboarding/vip/stillingsstrukturen
In the near future, we will invite recruitment staff from faculties and departments to an online meeting regarding these updates.
