Instructional videos from SDU Research Academy are now available to all researchers

The videos, developed and tested in the Research Academy, are now freely available to all interested researchers at SDU via a new website about the Research Academy.

The videos provide concrete, practical introductions to key areas of a researcher's professional life – areas that are becoming increasingly critical in a research world characterized by increased external funding, more cross-disciplinary collaborations, and the need for effective research project management and leadership.

Content of the instructional videos

The new learning videos offer insights and inspiration in four core areas:

1. Project and program management in research
   Researchers increasingly work in complex project structures – even if they do not consider themselves project managers. The videos provide researchers with tools to refine goal setting, structure project workflows, and understand why funding bodies support not only projects but also people and research environments. This requires solid project management from idea to execution.
2. Research management – managing research processes
   Research leadership encompasses many dimensions, and the videos demonstrate how researchers can use leadership theory – adapted to the university context – to work strategically with their research activities and their role in the research environment.
3. Managing research groups and environments
   Research increasingly takes place across disciplines, faculties, and sectors. The videos focus on the transition from individual researcher to leader in a shared research environment – including how to facilitate collaboration, build a sustainable group, and navigate interdisciplinary collaborations.
4. Managing application processes and funding strategies
   With increasing external funding of research, the ability to understand the funding landscape and work strategically with application processes is becoming ever more important. The videos introduce planning application workflows, engaging with funding bodies, and developing a personal funding strategy.
