Join us for Open Research Day 2026. Gain insight into the latest trends in health research – and watch PhD students compete to communicate complex subject matter in this year’s PhD Cup.
The Faculty of Health Sciences and the Region of Southern Denmark invite you to Open Research Day on 10 November 2026 from 8.30 to 15.30 at Comwell Middelfart.
What is Open Research Day?
Open Research Day is a joint event organised by SDU and the Region of Southern Denmark. You can either present your own research or find inspiration in the work of others. The day also gives you an overview of new trends in health research – both in Denmark and internationally.
The event is for all researchers, regardless of experience. Both early-career PhD students and experienced professors are welcome.
The programme includes:
A keynote lecture
Anton Pottegård, Professor of Pharmacoepidemiology and Clinical Pharmacy at the Department of Public Health, SDU. “To AI or to AI – that’s not a question”
The traditional PhD Cup
PhD students compete to communicate their research in a clear and engaging way. The winner is selected by both an expert judging panel and the audience. The winner receives a prize of DKK 10,000.
Participants in the PhD Cup are nominated by the heads of department.
Abstract sessions
Researchers present their results in smaller groups chaired by a session chair. The sessions are organised on the basis of submitted abstracts. Each presentation lasts 10 minutes and is given as an oral presentation.
