The the Liaison Committee and the Work Environment Committee – your voice at SUND

Did you know that you have a direct line to influence your workplace? The Liaison Committee at SUND (SU) and the Work Environment Committee (FAMU) at the Faculty of Health Sciences are forums where employees and management come together to create the best possible working conditions. It’s all about well-being, development, and good collaboration – and you can help make a difference.

What do the Liaison Committee and the Work Environment Committee do?

SU and FAMU work to strengthen the dialogue between management and employees. The committees discuss topics such as:

  • New initiatives and changes in the workplace
  • Personnel policies
  • Continuing education and skills development
  • Work environment and well-being (particularly in FAMU)

In short, SU and FAMU strive to ensure that you have the best conditions to thrive and develop in your job.

How are the committees structured?

To ensure broad representation, SU and FAMU include members from management, employees, and work environment representatives:

  • Management representatives: Appointed by management and often include heads of department and other key figures.
  • Employee representatives: Elected by employees and include union representatives from organisations such as the Danish Association of Masters and PhDs (Dansk Magisterforening), the Association of Medical Specialists (Foreningen af Speciallæger), 3F, and Djøf.
  • Work environment representatives: In FAMU, two employee representatives are elected by the local work environment groups and the local work environment committee at the faculty. This means there are a few additional participants beyond the regular SU members.

This structure ensures that all employee groups have a voice in the committees, fostering an inclusive and representative collaboration.

As an employee representative in SU and FAMU, you represent all employees in the workplace—not just your own views or those of a specific trade union.

SU and FAMU members work towards collective solutions and speak on behalf of the entire workforce. At the same time, it’s important to engage with colleagues to ensure that their input is heard and included in discussions.

Why are SU and FAMU relevant to you?

Because decisions made in SU and FAMU affect your daily work life. Do you have ideas for improving the work environment? Questions about a new workplace process? SU and FAMU are the forums where your input can be heard and discussed.

- As vice-chair of SUND-SU, I definitely feel that management listens to the proposals and feedback we bring forward. I also sense a shared interest in working together to create the best possible workplace, says Lars Elbæk, employee representative and vice-chair of SUND-SU.

SU and FAMU are built on a shared ambition to create the best possible conditions for both employees and management. They serve as key platforms for dialogue, where employees’ voices are not only heard but also taken seriously in decision-making processes. Management also sees this collaboration as an important resource for workplace development.

How can you make use of your SU and FAMU representatives?

If you have suggestions, concerns, or questions, you can reach out to any member of SU or FAMU—they are there to support you. They act as a link between you and management and can bring your views to the table.
