New Honorary Fellow at University of Southern Denmark

Darlene Cavalier has been appointed by the Faculty of Science in collaboration with Citizen Science Knowledge Center as an Honorary Fellow for a 5-year period.

During her appointment, Darlene Cavalier is affiliated with the Center for Research in Science Education and Communication (FNUG) and Citizen Science Knowledge Center, where she will contribute her expertise in learning, science communication, and citizen science. In addition to collaborating with these two centers, other partners will also be involved to offer new research and communication opportunities for the broader SDU community.

Darlene Cavalier is a professor at Arizona State University's School for the Future of Innovation in Society. She has made innovative contributions to the science of learning and is the founder of 'SciStarter', a groundbreaking citizen science portal that has enabled millions of people to participate in scientific research.

She is a founding member of the American Citizen Science Association (AAPS), advisor and Fellow at National Geographic, member of the EPA's National Advisory Council for Environmental Policy and Technology, and author or co-author of several books and journal articles. She is also the co-founder of 'ECAST: Expert and Citizen Assessment of Science and Technology', a network of institutions that, with an inclusive and dialogic approach, develop policies by incorporating diverse voices and perspectives from society.

Darlene Cavalier will deliver her inaugural lecture at the DIAS Auditorium on 25 September 2024, as part of a week-long visit to SDU.
