Holiday 2020/2021

Now is the time to be mindful if you would like to take a holiday in the shortened holiday period this year. The new Holiday Act comes into effect on 1 September 2020, and there are a few different things that you should be mindful of before then.

By Katrine Findsen, , 1/14/2020

Holiday from 1 May to 30 September 2020

Initially, we will enter a transitional period that starts on 1 May 2020 and ends on 30 September 2020.

A request for the holiday you would like to take during the transitional period must be made by 14 February 2020, after which the system will be closed for requests.

As usual, the holiday is requested and approved by immediate management here: minferie.sdu.dk

Initially, you will only be able to request a holiday from 1 May to 30 September 2020, during which time you may take a maximum of 16 holiday days if you are entitled to fully paid holidays. If you are not entitled to fully paid holidays, holiday not accrued will be deducted from your salary.

If you have been employed for the whole of 2019, you must plan all 16 holiday days that you wish to take by 30 September 2020, unless you have a valid reason not to use your holiday, such as maternity leave or long-term illness.

Please note! Autumn break

If you would like to take a holiday in the autumn break, it may be a good idea to use your five special holiday days for this purpose. These can be used from 1 May 2020 until 30 April 2021 and are not included in the 16 holiday days. You must enter these by choosing the special tab “Special holiday days”.
Special HolidayIf you do not wish to use the special holiday days for the autumn break, they can be saved and entered in the coming period, i.e. from 1 May 2020 until 30 April 2021.

Holiday from 1 September 2020 to 31 December 2021

The system will re-open when we reach the month of April 2020 and it will then apply to holiday requests for the period from 1 September 2020 until 31 December 2021. A request for 25 holiday days may be entered during this period.

A request for the holiday you would like to take during this period must be made by 01 June 2020, after which the system will be closed for requests.

As of 1 September 2020, you will accrue on-going holiday days month by month, namely 2.08 holiday days for each month you are employed.

You can keep updated here at SDUnet, where information on how you would like to take your holiday will be provided on an on-going basis. If you have any questions, you can contact the person responsible for holiday and leave in your department.
