News about working time registration at SDU

The pilot project for selected TAPs at TEK and SDU HR started on October 7 and is expected to end mid-November. After the pilot project, it is expected that the rest of the target group (except TAP who register flex time in Buanco) will be able to register in mTIME - see target group below.

Who should register working hours

Guidance on working time registration for TAP and D-TAP has been created and can be found here in Danish (Translation is in process).

Employees who register hours on external research projects in mTIME will continue to do so as before.

Employees covered by a flex time scheme and registering hours in Buanco will continue to do so as before.

Other TAPs will receive additional information and will still have to register working hours manually, e.g. in Excel sheets. For those covered by the rules on registering working hours, this will have to be done with effect from July 1, 2024.

Who should not register working hours

Self-organisers:

- TAP Managers - process for individual management assessment of who can be exempted is in underway

- VIP - process for individual management assessment of who can be exempted is being planned

Background

The new Working Time Registration Act requires employers to implement a working time registration system that makes it possible to measure the daily working hours of each employee. The law on maximum upper working hours already exists:

  • As an employee, you are not allowed to work more than 48 hours per week on average over a period of 4 months.
  • You are entitled to a weekly day off.
  • Your working hours must be organised so that you get a rest period of at least 11 consecutive hours within each 24-hour period.

The purpose of working time registration is to ensure that existing rules on maximum weekly working hours and rest periods are respected so that employees are not overburdened by too much work. During 2024 and 2025, SDU will start registering time in mTIME for more employees. Student assistants and employees in external projects have already started.
