Applications 2025
SDU maintains high interest among applicants
At the time of writing, the proportion of applicants who accept the student place offered is up to 90 per cent. This is a temporary figure that may change as the programme of study continues to admit to available places.
SDU has offered slightly fewer places this year than in 2024, but a high proportion of applicants have still chosen to accept the offer. This may be related to stricter admission requirements and a targeted admission process that has contributed to a stronger match between applicant and programme of study – and thus increased the motivation among qualified applicants to accept.
Stable support across faculties
There are no major fluctuations between the faculties, but health sciences stands out positively. Here, there is both a sustained interest in the medicine programme and strong support for the new psychology programme in Esbjerg.
At the other faculties, the picture is also stable, which shows that SDU's programme offerings generally have broad appeal and are strong across subject areas.
Differences between campuses
Enrolment varies between campuses. Esbjerg is high, partly due to interest in the psychology programme, while Sønderborg has seen a decline in places offered. Here, the development is mainly due to the fact that Software Engineering has offered significantly fewer places to applicants from within the EU this year.
A strong starting point for the study start
Across both faculties and campuses, the figures show that SDU remains strong as an educational institution. In a time of fewer young people and increased competition in the sector, the university has offered places to many qualified applicants, and a large majority have chosen to accept them.
The high enrolment provides a strong foundation for the new academic year, where SDU is ready to welcome the students and let them become part of a vibrant academic and social environment.
