Reflections on the Workplace Assessment (APV) 2024

As we are about to begin the work on our APV, I would like to take a moment to thank our health and safety organisation for their great efforts in developing action plans.

By Christian Bilde Dannevang, Vice-Chair, Central Liaison Committee/Administration Liaison Committee, 11/27/2024

I am convinced that their work will help us solve the challenges we have identified and create even better working conditions for everyone.

It is important for me to stress that SDU is a fantastic workplace that we all have to take good care of and take proud ownership of. We have achieved a lot, but there is always room to improve even further – and this is a chance for us as colleagues to actively contribute to this development. We must continue to be open to reflecting on the areas in which we can make further improvements.

I would also like to share my own reflections with you. I hope that our data base and approach to the APV will allow us to work together in a proactive manner and to continue to develop our workplace. It is very positive that so many employees have participated in the APV – your input is of great value.

Looking at the results, I am pleased to note a general positive development, but I also see indications that there may have been doubts about how to answer and what the responses are actually answers to. This is quite natural and provides an opportunity to reflect on the design of the questionnaire. Although it may be easy to criticise the questionnaire and the individual elements, I hope that we can work together to find the best ways to qualify the data we have. Both the positive elements that we can learn from and the negative elements that we must act on. I believe that our combined knowledge and experience will allow us to understand the APV in an appropriate way to provide us with a strong foundation for action.

Another important observation from the APV is that conflicts are a natural part of any working environment. It is important that we take joint responsibility for dealing constructively with conflicts, so that they not only represent challenges but also become opportunities to strengthen the co-operation and job satisfaction. When we work together to create a positive and supportive working environment, we can achieve fantastic results.

I would also like to encourage you to reach out if something has a negative impact on your everyday working life. It is essential that we help each other and support each other. Feel free to contact your colleagues, managers, union representatives or health and safety representatives. When we all contribute, we can make SDU an even better place to work.

I would like to thank the health and safety organisation for their commitment and for taking on the huge task that they are about to begin. As an employee, I look forward to taking another step together to make our workplace even stronger and more inspiring.
