Re-elected to the University Council: Vote of confidence and a responsible role
Being re-elected to the University Council isn’t just a recognition of my work, but also a reminder of the responsibility that comes with it.
I’m honoured to have been re-elected to the University Council with a strong mandate. Thank you for your vote of confidence. The University Council plays a crucial role in ensuring that both employees and students have a voice in important strategic decisions.
Democracy at SDU matters
Democracy at SDU is essential. It ensures that decisions are made with input from all parties, creating a fairer and more inclusive institution. I value active participation in SDU’s democratic processes because I believe that our joint efforts can lead to positive change and improvements for everyone.
A strong network is an asset
One of the main contributions I bring to the University Council is my strong network across disciplines, campuses and departments. I see this as a strength that helps me understand and represent different perspectives and needs, which is key to providing informed and inclusive input.
Future focus areas
I look forward to discussing and working on several topics over the next four years, including:
- The research strategy: Last term, we discussed a new research strategy. It will be exciting to follow this development, and the University is already bringing in more external funding. This is a positive development, but we must follow it closely and ensure that the necessary resources and processes are in place so that the research projects can be carried out in the most appropriate way.
- Development of the campus cities: The campus cities play an important role. They shape the education programmes and build local workforces, and in this way they ensure that opportunities aren’t only concentrated in the big cities. That’s why it’s important to continue to develop these campuses and secure inspiring learning and research environments. One particularly exciting development will be the opening of the new campus in Vejle.
- Study administration at SDU: Work has already begun on reviewing and making changes to the study administration at SDU. These are important but challenging discussions. I believe it’s important to include the staff in these conversations, as they are the ones who handle the day-to-day tasks. I’m in favour of improving processes where there is potential for improvement, but this must be done with respect for the employees who work hard every day at SDU.
- SDU as an attractive workplace: It is crucial that SDU is an attractive workplace in order for us to attract and retain talented employees. Especially at a time when there is a demand for labour. I hope this will be a topic of discussion moving forward.
I look forward to continuing this important work alongside my fellow elected members of the University Council. Together, we can make a difference.
