New publishing agreements for Open Access
In 2025 two new agreements have been added to the portfolio of open access agreements.
The first agreement is with the American Society for Microbiology, which is a specialised publisher in microbiology. The agreement includes six journals where authors from SDU can publish open access for free. The journals also ask page charges, and you will be able to get a discount on these.
See the agreement here.
The second agreement is with Project Muse. Project Muse is a platform that contains journals from different publishers, with John Hopkins University Press being the largest. The agreement is a Subscribe 2 Open agreement, which means that the journals have chosen to make a full year's publications open access because they have received enough subscriptions, from SDU Library among others, to cover the journal's costs.
See the agreement here.
As the last news for 2025 the Elsevier agreement, which expired in 2024, has been renewed, and we have an update on which journals are included in the agreement for the new period, which has now been added to our search tool. Please note that the agreement has changed. Previously it was the article's first submission date that had to be within the agreement period, now it is the article's acceptance date that applies.
See the search tool here.
Membership with publisher MDPI ends
SDU Library has chosen not to renew its membership with MDPI. The membership has given authors a 10% discount on the open access fee when publishing in any of MDPI's journals. The current subscription will end on 31 March 2025 and will not be renewed.
