Look it up: Encyclopedias

Too many to mention - too good to omit.

Therefore, we need to mention a few of the library's many useful encyclopedias. For example, if you have a student who needs to look up the ambiguous Avatar in a specific gaming context, both Encyclopedia of New Media and the Danish Medie- og Kommunikationsleksikon Online can be helpful. However, if it is the James Cameron movie from 2009 the student needs information about, All Movie Guide and Project MUSE, among others, can provide useful information. If it is ‘avatar’ in relation to Hinduism, the printed version of the Encyclopedia of Hinduism can be used, just as Britannica Academic and the Encyclopedia of Religion (both online) can provide relevant approaches to the concept.

Find online encyclopedias
If you know which encyclopedia you are looking for, it is easy to look it up via the library's a-z list in the database guide. If you are looking for inspiration or want to show your students the many possibilities (besides Wikipedia!), you can use the various academic subject-indexed entries to explore the guide.
