Saving up time off

From May Day 2025, you can save up time off for later use. This is not new time off, but a new option for saving existing time off.

What is new?

You can save up time off in the form of unused special holidays and time off in lieu according to specific regulations.
At any given time, you can have a maximum of 15 days of accrued time off, including a maximum of 8 days of time off in lieu earned as overtime and extra work. You should be aware that there may be separate local agreements that specify other arrangements in connection with overtime and extra work under these rules.

The accrued time off can be taken in hours or days and must always be agreed with your line manager to an extent that is compatible with operations. You can take up to 8 days of accrued time off per calendar year, and up to 2 days in a row.
The accrued time off is paid with the salary and any supplements that follow from the applicable rules for the type of time off in question at the time it is taken.

Saving up time off does not replace the option to transfer holiday days to the next holiday year. You still have this option. The savings are intended for the longer term and will typically extend beyond the current or upcoming holiday year.

What should you do as an employee?

You can save up special holiday accured during the 2024 holiday year for later use. If you want to save up special holiday days, you will have the opportunity to do so in August. You can only save special holidays that are not scheduled in HCM. If you have any questions about saving special holidays, please contact your absence manager at your department.

Example: If you want to save 3 of your 5 special holiday days accured during the 2024 holiday year (those that become available on May Day 2025), you must request to save by 1 September 2025 via the request form. The special holiday days that are then in the savings account in HCM must be used according to the applicable rules.
