Wi-Fi via eduroam
Certificate for network access, including eduroam, changes on 15 September 2026 – check whether you need to update your setup
SDU IT is replacing the certificate used for network access at SDU. It is used for the wireless network eduroam and for the wired network. On most IT equipment purchased and managed by SDU, SDU IT has changed the certificate automatically. If you use an SDU-managed Windows computer, Mac or iPhone, you therefore generally do not need to do anything. If you use Linux, Android, private equipment or other (research) equipment that is not managed by SDU, SDU IT may not be able to change the certificate automatically. You must therefore update the setup yourself, depending on how your device is configured.
eduroam
On computers, set up eduroam using the eduroam Configuration Assistant Tool, also called eduroam CAT. On Android and private iPhone, we recommend configuring the device with the geteduroam app https://www.eduroam.app
Who needs to do anything?
- SDU-managed Macs, Windows computers and iPhones: You generally do not need to do anything. SDU IT handles the change automatically.
- Linux, Android, private equipment and other non-SDU-managed (research) equipment: You need to update the eduroam setup yourself. Follow the guide for the type of device you use.
What do you need to do on a computer?
- Use the eduroam Configuration Assistant Tool, also called eduroam CAT.
- Go to SDU’s eduroam CAT profile: https://cat.eduroam.org/index.php
- Search for and select the University of Southern Denmark as your institution.
- Select the installer that matches your computer, if it is not selected automatically.
- Download and run the installer, then follow the instructions on the screen.
What do you need to do on a phone?
- Use the geteduroam app. Instructions are available at https://www.eduroam.app
- Download the app, select the University of Southern Denmark as your institution, and follow the instructions in the app. Keep the app installed so that the eduroam connection continues to work.
Manual certificate installation
For research computers and other equipment, you may need to install the certificate manually.

Note
It is important to update the eduroam setup or the root certificate on devices that are not managed by SDU IT before the certificate is replaced on 15 September 2026. Otherwise, the device will lose access to SDU’s network.
eduroam CAT and the geteduroam app support the most common platforms, including Windows, macOS, Linux, Chrome OS, Android and iOS. However, the exact installation may look slightly different depending on the device and operating system.
