Guide for adverts

• Who can advertise?

  There are the following guidelines for adverts on the screens:

  • The advert must be aimed at students and/or employees at SDU. As a starting point, no private, commercial initiatives may be advertised (with the exception of the university canteen and similar)
  • The advertiser must have a significant connection to SDU, either in the form of organisational anchoring or financial support.
  • Use common sense, i.e. no political propaganda, hate messages, adverts with explicit sexual content, calls for excessive drinking etc.

  It is free to advertise on the info screens.

• How to make an advert

  In Templafy (under Presentations/Info screen) there is a PowerPoint template that you can use to your advantage.

  How to design your advert:

  • Technical specifications

    
    Produce the advert in JPG format with pixel dimensions: 1920x842. The resolution should always be 72dpi.
  • Text

    Keep the text short and to the point:

    • What (Headline)
    • Where and when?
    • Where can I find out more/How do I sign up?

    Feel free to provide a link to more information: But ONLY use short URL addresses, QR code or Facebook page references, e.g. "Read more at www.sdu.dk".
    
    People don't typically stop and look at screens for long periods of time, but walk past and see the screen out of the corner of their eye, so think about readability and clarity, including clear contrast between background and text (dark text on light background or vice versa). Avoid placing text directly on a photo - use a text box instead.

  • Font type and size

    •  If SDU is the sender: Use SDU's official font according to SDU's visual identity.
    • Other advertisers: Use an easy-to-read sans serif font such as Arial, Calibri or Aptos. Use approximately 80-100 points for headlines and 30-40 points for body text.

  • Fotos

    Use an eye-catching photo - and make sure you have the rights to use it.

    Minimum recommended size: 3000 × 2000 px to avoid pixelisation.

  • Logo

    
    Do not put the SDU logo on your slide. There is already an SDU logo on the built-in screen frame.
  • Film and video

    It is also possible to show films on the info screens. The film must be no longer than 15 seconds and must be without sound.

    For video, it is important to switch on the 'Full screen' function unless the video is produced in 1920x842 px.

• How to get your advert on the info screens

  If you want an advert on the info screens, contact the Smartsign editor covering your area.

  The editor can help with layout and design to a certain extent, but in general it is the advertiser's responsibility to design the advert based on the guidelines.

• Other screens at SDU

  • Pylon in Esbjerg

    Smartsign is used for the pylon. Content must be in the format 240 x 480 pixels. There are two types of information that can be considered for publication on the pylons (top field):

    1. Major events of a broad grade, such as Annual University Celebration, Open Day, Start of Semester Party and the like. For these events, SDU Communication designs the content to ensure visual coherence with the event. Campus management and SDU Communication have an ongoing dialogue about these events.
    2. 'What's happening today': Ongoing, smaller events, e.g. conferences, PhD defences, etc. These are announced in plain text form and managed by SDU Communication.

    Display interval: 15 seconds.

  • Pylon in Kolding

    Content is placed in a field in the top left corner of a document that is 1920x1080 px. A section of the entire document is displayed in a 256x384 px field.

    Contact the campus coordinator to get content on the pylon.

  • Pylon in Odense

    Pylon on Moseskovvej

    Content is placed in a field in the top left corner of a document that is 1280x1024 px. A section of the entire document is displayed in a field that is 176x432 px. divided into the upper part of the 176x192 px pylon and the lower part of the 176x240 px pylon. 

    Pylon on Fioniavej

    Content is placed in a field in the top left corner of a document that is 1440x900 px. A section of the entire document is displayed in a field that is 288x720 px, divided into the upper part of the pylon of 288x288 px, and the lower field of 288x432 px.

    The template for adverts on pylons is created in Illustrator, so you need to have Illustrator installed to use the template.
