The use of artificial intelligence

New common rules have been published – applicable in E23 and V23/24

Common rules for the use of generative artificial intelligence (generative AI) at SDU have been published on MySDU and replace the previously applicable guidelines, which were announced on 21 December 2022. The guidelines may be adjusted with effect from the start of a new semester.

What’s new

The new common rules state that the course description on certain courses will specify if it is not permitted to use generative AI, such as ChatGPT and others. In addition, examples will be given of when generative AI can be useful for student learning, and reference is made to good academic practice in general.

The use of generative AI is not permitted for on-site written or oral exams. This also applies to on-site written/oral exams in which all aids are permitted. In connection with assignments and projects, including final projects, it is permitted to use generative AI if students follow good academic practice.

The use of generative AI in violation of the guidelines will be considered as communication with others and thus cheating in the exam. This also applies to on-site written/oral exams in which all aids are permitted, unless otherwise specifically stated in the course description or exam assignments.
